The American Dental Association (ADA) sponsors National Children’s Dental Health month every February to raise awareness about the importance of oral health. Developing good oral care habits at an early age is very important when it comes to the long term health of not only your child’s teeth, but their whole body. Cavities and gum disease can occur after even a relatively short time of not properly caring for your teeth and gums. And, they have been linked to other health problems such as heart disease and even premature birth. This month is a great reminder for all of us to take great care of our teeth!
The ADA created this poster with some basic reminders for good oral health.
The message: Brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste and clean between your teeth for a healthy smile!
1 – Brush twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste’
2 – Clean between your teeth daily
3 – each a healthy diet that limits sugary beverages and snacks
4 – See your dentist regularly for prevention and treatment of oral disease
